Jalandhar DC and SSP felicitate jawans of NDRF, SDRF and Army for stellar role in flood relief operations

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and SSP Jalandhar Rural Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal today felicitated the Jawans of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for their stellar role during the rescue and relief operations carried out in the aftermath of floods.

In a simple and impressive function held here today, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP said that the Punjabis in particular and the residents of the flood ravaged villages of Jalandhar would ever indebted to these brave hearts for saving several precious lives in the operation.

They said that ever since the warning of floods was there the Indian Army, SDRF and NDRF were roped in to save the precious lives of people. They said that in total four teams of NDRF, three teams of SDRF and four columns of Indian Army were pressed into service for saving the lives of children.

The Deputy Commissioner and SSP said despite of the vagaries of weather and hostile circumstances these soldiers safely evacuated the people not only from Phillaur but when the situation became serious in Lohian they did a commendable job there also.

They said that from last few days these brave soldiers gave a healing touch to the marooned villagers in Lohian.They said that the boats of NDRF, SDRF and Indian Army distributed relief material in the flood ravaged villagers.

The Deputy Commissioner and SSP said that these boats acted as mobile relief centres from where the teams of Doctors, Veterinary officers, Food and Civil Supplies distributed Food, Medicine, Fodder for animals and other relief material to the people.

They said that the people of Jalandhar would ever remember these brave hearts for their valiant deeds and humanitarian act. They , on behalf of all the Jalandhar residents, felicitated the Jawans with token of love.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramveer Singh and Dr Charumita, Assistant Commissioner Mr Varjeet Walia, DIstrict Food and Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr MP Singh, Revenue Officers Mr Inder Dev Minhas, Ms Swapandeep Kaur, Mr Lovedeep Singh and others were also present.
