In order to instil a sense of security among voters ahead of the voting day on May 19, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today led a flag march of the paramilitary force and Punjab Police in busy areas of the city.
Interacting with the people of the city during a flag march in the inner areas of the city, he said that police administration was duty-bound to maintain peace and law and order in the city. He added that no anti-social element would be allowed to disturb the peace.
Commissioner of Police called upon the people to exercise our vote without any fear and everyone should vote in the on May 19.
He revealed that 12 companies of Central Para Military Force (CPMF) which includes Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) along with 1,810 Punjab police personnel have been deployed for free, fair, transparent and peaceful Lok Sabha polls.
He said that entry points of the city have been completely sealed and the entire city has been divided into special zones for security purposes.
Mr Bhullar also stated that security of the area has been further strengthened with the joint deployment of CPMF and Punjab police personnel round-the-clock at 123 nakas all over the city where intensive vehicle checking is being conducted.
Furthermore, Mr Bhullar said that 43 patrolling parties of CPMF and Punjab Police personnel have been deployed to patrol the area besides carrying out regular flag marches and foot marching by the security forces especially in the vulnerable areas as part of confidence-building measures.
