Jalalabad By-election – Who is leading, who is trailing – LATEST

Fazilka, October 24, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

After 16th Round – Congress’ Raminder Awla won by 16633 votes.

Congress candidate Raminder Awla has won Jlalabad by-election. He trounced his nearest rival SAD candidate Raj Singh Dibbipura by a margin of 16633 votes.

Awla, a former president of Punjab Youth Congress polled 76098 votes while Dibbipura polled 69465 votes. AAP candidate Mohinder Singh polled 11301 votes.

Independent candidate Joginder Singh polled 238 votes, Jagdeep Kamboj polled 5836 votes, Joginder Singh polled 209 votes, Raj Singh polled 515 votes. 701 voters preferred not to vote for any body and exercised the option of NOTA.

The by-election to Jalalabad was necessitated with the resignation of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal who vacated the seat as he was elected member of parliament from Ferozepur during general elections earlier this year.

This defeat is definitely a blow for SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal as he had won this seat with heavy margin during 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections and managed to retain big lead from this constituency during parliamentary elections too.
