PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar has advised the politically and economically well-placed Bajwa family to apologize for hurting sentiments of youth of the state instead of throwing mud at others.
Rubbishing questioning by the Bajwa family of appointment of Ajay Vir Jakhar as chairman of Punjab State Farmers’ & Farm Workers’ Commission, the state congress president said that Ajay Vir did not draw any salary or other emoluments .
“The Bajwa family by accepting a government job for its kin has not only hurt the feelings of thousands of jobless youth but also damaged the reputation of the Chief Minister and Congress party besides tarnishing their deceased father’s name, Jakhar said.
He said that even now by pretending to quit the job on moral grounds and throwing mud on others Bajwa family was trying to hood wink public and cover up their monumental blunder. It would be better even today if the family admits the mistake and publicly apologizes to the people of the state.
Jakhar said that as far as Ajay Vir Jakhar being the Chairman was concerned, he had not drawn a single rupee from the exchequer during his tenure as salary or any other benefit. He has a unique identity of his own and is the only Indian to be selected as co-chairman of the Action Track 2 of the United Nations Food Systems Summit to be held in September 2021 to design sustainable food systems.
In addition, Ajay Vir Jakhar is currently a member of the Food Systems Initiative Stewardship Board at the coveted World Economic Forum. Due to his knowledge, vision and understanding of the agriculture sector, even before he became the Chairman of the Commission, he is regularly being invited by the Government of India for discussions before the annual budget for the last several years.
