Historic move to empower women and foster gender equality: Punjab BJP leader

Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur today expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing in the Women’s Reservation Bill.
In a statement released here the senior BJP leader said, “This is a historical moment for India as the very vital Women’s Reservation Bill has been tabled in the Parliament by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji led Bharatiya Janata Party government. This bill is a monumental leap towards empowering our women and fostering gender equality at the highest level and I thank the Prime Minister for his visionary and strong leadership for bringing this bill.”
She further said, “With the passing of this historic bill 33% of the seats will be reserved for women in Lok Sabha as well as the Vidhan Sabha’s of all states. This is a very vital step by the Modi government for the empowerment of our Nari Shakti. Even though the previous government’s tried to bring a similar legislation, they failed to do so due to their lack of political conviction. But I am confident that our BJP government will surely get this bill passed in both houses in the coming days.”
The BJP leader further informed that, “Currently there are 82 women MPs in Lok Sabha, but with the passing of this bill this number will rise to 181 according to the current strength. In the current scenario proper representation of women at the highest level is the need of the hour, as only with proper representation can the issues related to women be resolved.”
