Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, general secretary and spokesman of Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) sharply criticized Jagmeet Singh Brar for joining SAD in Muktsar today.
“Jagmeet Singh Brar has taken a very unfortunate and desperate decision to join SAD on Friday because SAD has allegedly been behind the sacrilege issues, Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing incidents where the two peaceful protesters were killed by police during the SAD-BJP alliance government. Now if Jagmeet Singh Brar has chosen to join SAD it is very shocking and unfortunate. It is a self destructive step taken by Jagmeet,” said Peer Mohammad, taking a dig at Brar in press statement released from party head office in Chandigarh on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that two time MP, and permanent invitee of Congress Working Committee who was expelled by the Congress party in 2016 for his anti party activities today joined SAD in Muktsar in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal and former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal.
“Jagmeet Singh Brar has been a very good politician and he has been raising the issues related to Punjab in parliament during nineties as an MP. He had also successfully contested against Sukhbir Singh Badal and had been a strong critic of SAD in past, but now we fail to understand what good thing attracted Brar to join SAD when the party is desperately looking forward to win any election to save its face after its sharp decline since last assembly elections,” Peer Mohammad said.
“His joining SAD would certainly dent his public image of an honest and upright politician. Now it seems Jagmeet Singh Brar is also an opportunist as he had earlier joined Trinamool Congress led by Mamta Banerjee and was appointed Punjab chief of the party. But joining SAD against which he had been speaking for decades is beyond our understanding. He seems to have compromised his image only to remain in politics now,” Peer Mohammad alleged.
“It was the SAD-BJP government in Punjab which looted the state by the sand, liquor, drug, cable and transport mafia during the last decade. It failed to solve the sacrilege and firing incidents in Behbal Kalan during its rule. I do not understand how Jagmeet Singh Brar would adjust in such party which is only a puppet in the hands of Badals,” Peermohammad alleged.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jagmeet Singh Brar contested twice against Prakash Singh Badal, thrice against Sukhbir, defeating him once in Faridkot.
