The Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Government of India, Mr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura today released the first edition of the book of personal diaries of Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, at CGO Complex Delhi.
The edited version of these diaries, published by Mesopotamia Publishers, Delhi has been prepared in book form by Dr. Jagmail Singh Bhathuan and Dr. Ravinder Kaur Ravi, former Assistant Professor, Department of Music, Punjabi University, Patiala. On this occasion, Sardar Lalpura said that in these valuable diaries, there is an unwritten history of India and Punjab.
He congratulated Dr. Jagmail Singh Bhathuan and Dr. Ravinder Kaur Ravi for this historic work and said that undoubtedly due to the publication of these diaries, Punjabi lovers and researchers will get to see another new aspect of the personality of greatb Punjabi scholar Bhai Kahan Singh JI Nabha .
Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura said that diary writing is a major genre of literature in which the author feels mentally blissful or happy by enlightening the world and society through his unique and personal imagination.
The great people of the world have been writing diaries for centuries and the publication of their diaries gives a lot of inspiration to people to identify right and wrong in life from the personal experiences of the author.
Senior Vice President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee ,Sardar Atma Singh Lubana and prominent Sikh leaders of Delhi ,were also present on the occasion. It is worth mentioning that these diaries give a glimpse of the public life and culture of Punjab about 150 years ago.
The diaries also reveal interesting information about the ways in which the kings and maharajas of the Phulkian princely states as well as the British rulers functioned. In these, there is not only a mention of places and events, but also a theoretical observation.
