Chandigarh, October 28, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
Odisha cadre IPS officer Saumya Mishra has sought cadre change to Punjab.
Saumya Mishra who is currently serving as DCP (Traffic) for Bhubaneswar and Cuttak, is married to Punjab cadre IPS officer Deepak Pareek who is posted as ADCP-1 at Ludhiana.
Both 2014 batch IPS officers had married on November 22, 2015 and she had requested for change of her cadre on November 24, 2015.
She has now written to Odisha DGP Abhay through Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi who had forwarded her request to the DGP.
The procedure in such cases is that the DGP will forward the request to the state Home Department which takes a decision on cadre change. In case the approval is granted, the representation is then sent to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), who is the final authority to take a call on cadre change.
The state where the officer desiring a cadre change is posted takes a decision after examining the availability and vacancies of the IPS officers. The government of the state where the officer is desirous to join also has a say, it has been learnt.
It is pertinent to mention here that IAS and IPS couples can get a common cadre provided the state they are opting for is not the home of state of any of the two.
The couple in question has otherwise a valid ground, as Saumya Mishra belongs to Uttar Pradesh and Deepak Pareek hails from Rajasthan.
