1988 batch IPS officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, serving as Special DGP Punjab Armed Battalions, Jalandhar has been given additional charge as DGP of Punjab.
The orders were passed today by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi-led new Congress Government in the state.
Dinkar Gupta, who was the DGP till now, has proceeded on leave thereby facilitating the allocation of additional charge to Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, who would now be virtually the DGP of Punjab.
It may be recalled that yesterday, the Government had decided to remove Dinkar Gupta’s wife Vini Mahajan IAS as Chief Secretary of Punjab. Another senior IAS officer Anirudh Tiwari was appointed as Chief Secretary.
