Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said there was no hope for any fruitful investment in Punjab under the Congress dispensation with the State electricity authority unable to pay dues to power suppliers or even pay salaries to its staff even as increasing extortions and contract killings in Punjab were scaring away business and trade.
Addressing a press conference here, the former minister said the Investment Summit being organized by the Congress government was a sham and waste of tax payer’s money as the atmosphere was not conducive to invest in the State. He said the PSPCL, which was to power the new industrial units, was unable to sustain itself and had slipped into the red because the State government had refused to release subsidy due to it. He said industrialists in Punjab had been promised power at Rs 5 per unit but were getting the same at Rs 8 per unit.
Mr Majithia said even those who had invested in the State were migrating out of Punjab because of the jungle law prevalent in Punjab. He said the link between gangsters and ministers had become so strong and the Jails minister was speaking up in favour of a gangster in a cabinet meeting. “What more proof does anyone need of the minister-gangster nexus? He said even though Manpreet Manna, who had been shot dead as part of a gang war recently, had fourteen cases registered against him the Jails minister had castigated the Muktsar SSP for terming him as a gangster. He said it was not only gangsters but Congress goons and even anti-social elements that had become hyper active in the State. “Anti-social elements are not afraid of the law. Killings are being conducted in broad daylight with impunity with the latest case being that of a lady teacher who was killed in Kharar today”.
The former minister also said the statement of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh that the 1984 genocide could have been averted if then Home minister PV Narasimha Rao had called in the army was a clear indictment of the Gandhi family as well as the Congress party in the State sponsored massacre. He said it was clear from the statement that the Home Minister was prevented from calling in the army by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the Gandhi family.
Mr Majithia while speaking about the murder case of Dalbir Dhilwan of Dera Baba Nanak, said no action had been taken in the case even after eighteen days had passed since Dalbir was shot and hacked to death by a gangster- Minister nexus. He said the SAD would hold a dharna to demand justice for Dalbir on December 7 at Batala and that party president Sukhbir Singh Badal would lead the same.
