An Emergency Meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal Core Committee was called today at New Delhi by S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, President SAD to discuss the Inter State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill 2019 and the Core Committee unanimously decided that the Bill is against the interests of the people of Punjab.
Shiromani Akali Dal Core Committee resolved that Party has always stood for the cause of waters of Punjab and will safeguard the interests of waters of Punjab by any means. The Party shall apprise the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Union Jal Shakti Minister tomorrow about the gravity of the situation and will urge them not to press this Bill in the Rajya Sabha in the present form.
Shikromani Akali Dal will not allow a single drop of water to any other state of the country as there is no surplus water with the state of Punjab. This was stated by Shiromani Akali Dal President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal after holding an emergency meeting of Core Committee of the Party at his residence in New Delhi today evening.
The meeting was attended by S. Balwinder Singh Bhunder, JathedarTota Singh, Prof.Prem Singh Chandumajra, S. Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Mr.Naresh Gujral, Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema, S. Janmeja Singh Sekhon and S. Darbara Singh Guru.
The meeting discussed in detail the recent The inter State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill 2019 and resolved that the passage of this Bill is a grave injustice with the people of Punjab.
The Core Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal today made it very clear that Inter State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill 2019 is not going to help the aggrieved people of the State in any way but rather it will further jeopardize the water rights of people of Punjab if passed in the present form.
