Institutional or Hotel Quarantine Mandatory for NRIs: Apneet Riyait

Extending an appeal to the Non Resident Indians (NRIs)to strictly follow the quarantine guidelines of state Government, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Monday categorically said that institutional or hotel quarantine was mandatory for all NRIs returning to Hoshiarpur from different countries.

Deputy Commissioner said that all NRIs should opt either for Institutional Quarantine Centre (IQC) or hotels identified by the administration for the purpose of quarantine. NRIs can choose the hotel of their choice, said the Deputy Commissioner adding that elaborate arrangements had been made at the IQCs established at Panjab University’s local Regional Campus and MSDC for the facilitation of NRIs to be quarantined on their arrival in Hoshiarpur.

She said that the samples of NRIs would be taken within seven days during their quarantine period. She said that if the report was negative, they would be allowed to go home and in case of positive report NRIs will have to further stay in isolation till complete recovery from symptoms.

She said that community surveillance was being carried out by the officials to track those, who had been violated the quarantine guidelines. The Deputy Commissioner warned that strict action could be taken against those flouting the quarantine guidelines besides impounding their passports.

Besides the said two IQCs, Apneet Riyait said that as many as 13 hotels have been dedicated for the NRIs, where they could stay by paying prescribed rates during quarantine period.

These hotels included Shiraz Regency, Hotel Amber Residency, Hotel Batra Continental, Fine Dining Restaurant, Amritsari Chicken Corner & Restaurant, Hotel Royal Plaza, Virat Hotel Mahilpur, Nirwana Resorts Jaijon, Oasis Hotel & Restaurant Garhshankar, Hotel Platinum Garhshankar, Hotel Yokohama & Restaurant Garhshankar, Gaj Retreat in village Garhmansowal near Garhshankar.
