Increase in Minimum Wages of Construction Workers and Unskilled Workers approved: Anmol Gagan Maan

The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister S.Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the welfare and upliftment of the standard of living of all construction workers and unskilled workers in the state. Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said that in the review meeting of the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board by the Chief Minister last evening, the Punjab government gave Diwali gifts to the skilled and unskilled workers and increased their minimum wages.

The Cabinet Minister said that laborers have a significant contribution in the progress of Punjab. She said that the state government has increased the minimum wage of unskilled workers from the current Rs.9192/- to Rs.9907/-, while the minimum wage of semi-skilled workers has been increased from Rs.9972 to Rs.10687. She said that the wages of skilled workers have been increased from Rs.10869/- to Rs.11584 and the wages of highly skilled workers have been increased from Rs.11901 to Rs.12616/-

Apart from this, she said that the state government will soon launch a large-scale campaign to register the workers with the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. She said that at present there are 5.30 lakh workers registered with the board, whose number needs to be increased to at least 15 lakh. She said that for the registration of workers from all sections of the society, registration of workers will be done by sending teams to villages, cities, labour squares and construction sites.
