Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium of I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) was full of enthusiasm on Wednesday evening. It was very bright with the light of winning spirit. The winning teams were dancing in glee on stage, the guests who were sitting in the audience and the students make this last evening of IKGPTU Zonal Youth Festival 2019 a memorable with repeated applause.
After the three day struggle of all teams, DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) Jalandhar became the overall trophy winner of IKGPTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival 2019, while Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana (GNDEC) won runners-up position. Similarly in Giddha, GGI Khanna got first and GNDEC Ludhiana got second place.
The last day’s Chief Guest was Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jalandhar range Sh. Naunihal Singh, IPS, while the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma made a special guest. Dr. R.P.S Bedi, the overall in-charge of this youth fest & joint registrar of IKGPTU, welcomed Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor as the host.
In his welcome address, Dr. Bedi said that organizing Youth Festival at the University’s own Campus expressed happiness and greetings for everyone. He expressed special gratitude to the Chief Guest IGP Naunihal Singh & VC Prof. Dr Sharma, who has raised the morale of the participants and students with their esteemed presence in the auditorium till the end of event.
As Chief Guest IGP Sh. Naunihal Singh addressed the students in a very simple tone from the stage of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Auditorium. After his quick start, the whole situation resonated with the applause. IGP Naunihal Singh said that when he was a student, he used to enjoy the show with a lot of enthusiasm.
He invited students to clap a lot and enjoy the youth festival enthusiastically. The Chief Guest IPS Singh made this event more memorable with his interaction with students. He appreciated the efforts of University & specially congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma and the entire team for this successful event. He said that such programs are very much important for technical education students.
At the end, Sh. Baljit Singh Sekhon, former Youth Services Director of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, who was the observer of this inter zonal youth fest, was honored. Awards were also given to winning teams, participants & students. University Registrar Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia, Campus Director Dr. Yadvinder Singh Brar were specially present during the ceremony.
For the overall success of the Youth Festival, Assistant Registrar Paramjit Gill, Assistant Director (Cultural-Youth Affairs) Sameer Sharma, Assistant Professor Punjabi Dr. Sarabjit Singh Mann did remarkable job. Stage was conducted by students of main campus Himanshu, Simranjeet and Harleen.
