IKGPTU students introduced with ground realities of Journalism

The department of Journalism and Mass Communication of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University organized an extension guest lecture on ‘Perspectives of Electronic Media’. Noted TV Producer of a renowned TV news channel, Munish Devgan was the resource person on this occasion.

Dr. Ranbir Singh, Head of the Department extended a floral welcome to resource person Munish Devgan. In his interaction, he stated that in the field of journalism reading is very important. If you want to become a successful journalist, one should be passionate to get the exclusive news story.

He conversed about art of writing in digital and broadcast news and gave basic guidelines and tips for becoming good journalists. He emphasized on the importance of knowledge and command over language and how to make a news story different from other by illustrating examples of online new stories.

Further, he discussed about how to make a news package. He also shared the challenges one has to face while dealing with the practical and challenging environment of media. During the interactive session many queries of the students were satisfied by the speaker.

In the end, HOD Dr. Ranbir Singh gave a formal vote of thanks to speaker. He praised the speaker for his exemplary command on the language and for sharing his valuable experiences with students. He further introduced about department’s activities and courses.

Dr Ranbir shared that department has started a three year regular degree program BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from current academic session 2019-20. It is noteworthy to mention here that department is already running Masters, M.Phil. and PhD programs in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication.
