If any road breaks within 5 years, the contractor will be responsible: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Amritsar/Ajnala, 15 November, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Today, MLA and former Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal announced that none of the roads considered the lifeline of the Ajnala constituency will remain unpaved or in poor condition, because the process for constructing new roads and repairing damaged ones has now formally begun.

Yesterday, in the first phase, the Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, released a ₹58-crore road-repair package.

S. Dhaliwal expressed these views while addressing village gatherings—also attended by officials and contractors—during the formal commencement and foundation-stone ceremony for the repair works of seven link roads, covering about 12 kilometres in the constituency.

He clearly stated that the roads being constructed or repaired with a 5-year guarantee must remain durable, and if any road begins to deteriorate prematurely, the direct responsibility will lie with the contractor.

In case of damage, repair work will be carried out from the funds allocated under the newly issued tenders. If any collusion is found between the contractor and departmental officials or employees concerning early road damage, strict legal action will be taken.

S. Dhaliwal further said that to maintain the quality of link roads and to keep strict watch over construction and repair work, Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has formed a CM Flying Squad comprising PWD and Punjab Mandi Board officials to ensure transparency and quality in these road-development projects.

Earlier, MLA and former minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal laid foundation stones for road-repair works costing ₹18.81 lakh for the road from village Talwandi Sipahi Mall to Jhander, ₹7.82 lakh for the link from Talwandi Sipahi Mall to the village cremation ground, ₹31.12 lakh for the road from Harsha Cheena-Fatehgarh Churian Road to Kot Kesra Singh via Talwandi Sipahi Mall, ₹34.4 lakh for the road from Thoba Dayal Bhadang Road to Haler, ₹27.99 lakh for the road from village Sudhar to the Senior Secondary School, ₹25.53 lakh for the road from village Urdhan to Sudhar, and ₹40.52 lakh for the 12-ft-wide Thoba Dayal Bhadang Road to Fatehgarh Churian Road stretch—totalling ₹2.25 crore for seven link roads under repair. The foundation stones were laid amid chants and applause.

On this occasion, Khushpal Singh Dhaliwal, PA Mukhtar Singh Baldarwal, Gurjant Singh Sohi, Market Committee Ajnala Chairman Baldev Singh Babbu Chetanpura, BDO Harsha Cheena Praghat Singh, officials of the Punjab Mandi Board, village panchayats, and prominent residents were present.
