Housing scheme fiasco: Capt & Modi govts played cruel joke on poor: Rupinder Kaur Ruby

Chandigarh, November 20, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab has accused the state and Central governments of playing a cruel joke on the poor on the promise of providing a free house to the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

In a statement issued from headquarters on Wednesday, party spokesperson and MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby said that the Congress and SADBJP leaders were best at selling false dreams of providing a free house among the poor and Dalits to leverage it in garnering votes, but changed colors once they assumed power, saying the fate of those who applied for a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, had dashed the hopes of almost a million beneficiaries who were left to rue and rant in resignation.

Rupinder Kaur Ruby, quoting figures presented at the review meet of the Bankers Committee, said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna , more than one lakh two thousand poor people had applied, out of which only 202 applications were accepted and the remaining were rejected, which was a cruel joke played on the poor.

The AAP leader further said that after playing a cruel joke on the poor people, the state and union governments were indulging in cheap politics blaming each other, out to mislead the poor people, saying both of them were equally responsible for the same.

Rupinder Kaur Ruby has sought a clarification from, besides Capt Amarinder Singh, Cabinet union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Som Prakash (BJP) over the rejection of 99 per cent applications under the scheme.
