Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, a special late-night inspection drive was conducted against illegal mining activities under the supervision of SDM Mukerian, Ankur Mahindroo. During the joint operation including department, PPCB and local police, three crushers were inspected.
SDM Mahindroo informed that one crusher, which had been suspended several months ago, was found in operation. At the site, a 500 KVA genset was discovered, still warm, with recent tire marks, wet gravel, and a recorded running of 1,414 hours, all indicating recent use. A report has been submitted for lodging an FIR at Talwara police station.
The mining department has been instructed to assess the quantity of material processed based on the genset’s capacity and running hours, and to issue an R-notice accordingly. The genset was ordered to be sealed today to prevent further operation of the crusher.
In addition, five challans were issued and vehicles involved in illegal mining activities were impounded.
The SDM further stated that another mining site is under investigation and strict legal action will be taken. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain emphasized that the district administration is strictly adhering to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and stern legal action will continue against violators.
