Hordes of jobless youth in state give me jitters: Bhagwant Mann

Dirba/ Sangrur, May 15, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab unit chief and Member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann, said here on Wednesday that it always felt nice when he sees his cavalcade surrounded by motorcycle-borne youth while on campaign trail, but stated that it gave him the jitters that a major chunk of the future power of the country was jobless.

Addressing a large number of people during the road show on Wednesday here that cruised through as many as 29 villages of Dirba Mandi segment, Mann said that both the Narendra Modi government at the centre and Captain Amrinder Singh government in the state were responsible for large scale unemployment in the state.

In his emotion-charged address, Mann said that it felt so bad when reporters ask me about these youth while on campaign trail or whenever he thought about their predicament sitting in solitude. On Wednesday when a senior scribe quizzed me about the presence of these youth during the road show, I promptly replied “They should have been on their jobs or on their business ventures” He said he would be happy to see them all on their jobs during the working days and joining his cavalcade on Sundays and holidays, he added.

Mann appealed to the people on the occasion to vote and support the AAP nominees to strengthen its hands to enable it to take on the zombie of rising inflation, the farmers’ debts, unemployment, menace of drugs, which, he said, were the ‘gifts’ of the ruling and the preceding governments in the state. He appealed to the people to quiz Modi government on generation of two crore jobs annually, and ‘ghar-ghar naukri’ by Captain Amrinder Singh government in the state when they come to seek your vote and support.

On the occasion, Leader of Opposition and Dirba MLA Harpal Singh Cheema said that AAP had always delivered what it promised to the people, invoking the Delhi model of governance to prove the point.

He added that Delhi had witnessed an unprecedented development during the 4-year term of the government, which had improved the schools, hospitals, road network. People get free up to 20 thousands litres of potable water and cheaper electricity and others.

Cheema concluded saying that there was not even a single issue which Mann had not taken up for redressal, unlike others whom people elected to represented them.
