Hockey stick signed by Tokyo Olympians presented to DC Jalandhar

Representatives of a reputed hockey company today presented a hockey stick signed by the Tokyo Olympics players to Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner and President of Surjit Hockey Society Mr. Ghanshyam Thori. The hockey stick is signed by a group of hockey players who won bronze medals during the Tokyo Olympics.

Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that it was a matter of great pride that the Indian hockey team which won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics included 8 players from Punjab. It is also a matter of pride that 4 players from Jalandhar alone were part of this team who made hockey famous all over the world.

He said that he was very happy to receive this stick signed by all the hockey Olympians today. Mr. Jatin Mahajan and Mr. Nitin Mahajan, representatives of the company which donated the Hockey Stick, thanked Mr. Thori and said that the Deputy Commissioner was rendering excellent services to the city of Jalandhar.

He said that the great efforts being made by Mr. Thorey to promote sports and especially hockey were commendable. He said that soon these sticks signed by Olympic hockey players would also be presented to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Sports Minister Meet Hair. Prominent sports promoter Surinder Singh Bhapa, Vice Captain of Surjit Hockey Academy Harjot Kaur etc. were also present on the occasion.
