Hockey legend Sandeep Singh set to start political innings, may contest Haryana elections

Former Captain of Indian Hockey team and officer in Haryana Police, Sandeep Singh is set to join politcs and likely to contest Vidhan Sabha elections in Haryana.

Popularly known as “Soorma” Sandeep Singh who is also an Arjuna Awardee, confirmed that he will be joining politics in next few months and may contest Vidhan Sabha elections which are scheduled after four months.

Sandeep Singh was here in Ludhiana to attend Youth conclave Speaking Minds.

Even as Sandeep Singh avoided commenting on which party he would join but sources confirmed that Hockey star was in touch with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

Sandeep Singh said that youngsters were migrating abroad and there was need to provide job opportunities to youngsters in India.

“In India, the youngsters only run after Government jobs but abroad they are ready to do labor,” he said adding that he will try to bring change and work for the society.

Sandeep Singh said that he was also running Hockey academy and has plan to open 40 Academies throughout India.

The former hockey captain suggested that youngsters should never give up in life and should instead work hard to become successful in life.

Sandeep Singh said that the people love to play and watch cricket which is half game and half entertainment but Hockey is a perfect game for a true sportsperson.
