Heritage walk led by CPSCM Suresh Kumar gets rousing reception in Sultanpur Lodhi

Imbued in spiritual glory, the Heritage Walk organised today by the Punjab government to commemorate the 550th parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji today spread the message of oneness of God, humanity, compassion and brotherhood as preached by the great Guru Sahib.

The walk which started from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk and culminated at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib was led by the Chief Principal Secretary to the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Suresh Kumar.

The around three kilometres long walk that passed through Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh, Gurdwara Kothri Sahib, Old House Bebe Nanaki, Gurdwara Hatt Sahib, Quilla Sarai and others was given a rousing reception by people from all walks of life. During the walk the people showered flower petals on the devotees participating in the event.

Likewise the langars of tea, lassi, fruits and other delicacies was also served to the devotees on their way to the pilgrimage of the various Gurdwaras associated with the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

During the walk the devotees were apprised about the historic importance of the gurdwaras which bear the footprints of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. The devotees had a unique spiritual experience during the entire walk which ended in around more than three years.

Meanwhile addressing the gathering the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister said that it was a path breaking initiative by the Department of Information and Public Relations along with Patiala foundation.

He said that it would go a long way in reconnecting the youth with the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. Mr Suresh Kumar said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji had shown the path of humanity, peace, brotherhood and compassion to the human beings adding that the need of hour was to make this philosophy an integral part of our lives.

The Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister further said that the state government was committed for commemorating the 550th parkash purb in an unsurpassed manner.

He said that projects worth RS 400 crore have been dedicated by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the facelift of the city. Mr Suresh Kumar said that it was a historic occasion and the state government would leave no stone unturned to commemorate it in a befitting manner.

On the occasion MP Mr Jasbir Singh Dimpa and MLA Mr Navtej Singh Cheema also addressed the gathering.

Mr Ravee Ahluwalia from Patiala foundation thanked the dignitaries for gracing the occasion.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Director Information and Public Relations Ms Anindita Mitra, Inspector General of Police Mr Naunihal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mr DPS Kharbanda, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Satinder Singh and others.
