Heritage walk at Sultanpur Lodhi to connect youngsters with the sacred land of Guru Nanak Dev: Anindita Mitra

Director Information and Public Relations Mrs Anindita Mitra today said that heritage walk being organised by the state government on November at Sultanpur Lodhi would connect the people especially the youth with the holy city from where Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji had given message of humanity and peace.

The Director Information and Public Relations, who was here to review the arrangements for the mega event, said that The heritage walk would prove to be a mile stone to showcase the life and philosophy of Sri Guru nanak Dev ji besides showcasing the 10 century old history of the sultanpur lodhi.

She, accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Charumita, Assistant Commissioner Ms Navneet Kaur Bal ant Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Vishaljit Singh, covered around three kilometre proposed route of walk on foot from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk to Gurdwara Shri Ber Sahib via Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh , Gurdwara Kothri sahib , Bhara Mall Mandir , Ghar Bebe Nanki ji , Gurdwara Hatt Sahib and Gurdwara Shri Ber sahib to review the preparations for heritage walk. Mrs Mitra said that the heritage walk would play a significant role to boost the religious tourism as the holy city has a great potential to attract the tourists from all around the world.

The Heritage walk would begin at 7.15 AM from shaheed Udham Singh chowk , in which many prominent personalities from fields like sports, culture higher officials of Punjab Government, religious and political leaders, students from educational institutions around the city would participate.

She said that 300 volunteers from Patiala foundation would participate in the walk , comprising philosophers, historians, academicians and others who would spread awareness about the historical importance of the city , life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji amongst the participants, he added.

She said that the preservation of environment as the great Guru Nanak Dev ji preached , would also be the main moto of the heritage walk .

Later on the Director also visited the media lounge in main pandal to review the setting up of highteck media centre to facilitate the media persons from across the country. It may be mentioned here that the media centre would comprise work station , help desk , media lounge, sound proof recording studio etc.

She also take a stock of the light and sound show , which would be held from November 1st to 12 near main pandal besides visiting the Digital museum site near shaheed Udham Singh chowk . It would be organized from November 1st to 3rd to showcase the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Prominent amongst present on the occasion included chairman of Patiala foundation Ravi Ahluwalia, DFSO Sartaj Singh, Principal Navchetan Singh and representatives of Patiala foundation.
