A special health camp under the nationwide “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”—a flagship health and wellness campaign—was organized at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, in collaboration with the Institute of Nursing Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda.
The camp focused on women’s health and family well-being, with particular attention to lifestyle disorders and menstrual hygiene awareness through counseling, preventive, and curative healthcare services.
The programme was inaugurated by MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Professor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, in the presence of Dr. Amit Bhatia, Head of the Department, and Dr. Ashish Baldi, Dean of the Department. Also present were Dr. Kamlesh K. Sharma, Principal, AIIMS Bathinda, along with faculty members, medical professionals, students, and staff.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma highlighted that the initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible for women and to strengthen families through preventive care and wellness services.
The camp was actively organized by female students of the department under the mentorship of Dr. Shruti Chopra and Dr. Navjot Kanwar (MRSPTU) and Dr. Simarjeet Kaur (AIIMS).
During the camp, 157 females were screened while 177 participants attended health education sessions. The overwhelming response from students and staff reflected strong community support for improving health outcomes of women, adolescent girls, and children.
