Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu hands over Appointment Letters to 308 Staff Nurses under NHM Punjab

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, S. Balbir Singh Sidhu here today handed over appointment letters to 308 Staff Nurses under National Health Mission, Punjab. A special event was organized at State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab, Phase VI, Mohali.

Mission Director National Health Mission, Punjab Sh. Kumar Rahul and Political Secretary to Health Minister cum Director Cooperative Bank, Mohali Sh Harkesh Chand Sharma were present on the occasion.

S. Balbir Singh Sidhu told that the deployment of these staff nurses will be at district hospitals, sub divisional hospitals, CHCs of rural and urban areas of the state and they shall help in providing better health services to the people of Punjab.

Health Minister said that the paper and skill test of these staff nurses was held in a transparent manner and about 670 staff nurses were to be recruited, out of which 534 staff nurses were recently appointed. Now, with the objective of further improving health services in Punjab, there was a need for additional staff nurses.

Hence more candidates were selected and now appointment letters have been handed over to 308 staff nurses today. He informed that appointments of other para medical staff such as pharmacists, lab technicians etc. is also being done soon in health institutions in the state of Punjab.

Health Minister congratulated the newly appointed candidates and said that they are fortunate to have got an opportunity to serve the people. He urged them to do their duty with utmost sincerity and responsibility. He said that on the 550th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, duties of the staff of Health Department Punjab were placed at Sultanpur Lodhi, Phagwara, Batala and other places.

The service by health department officials was widely appreciated by the people there. He asked the new staff nurses to be compassionate towards patients and listen patiently to every person coming to the hospitals and treat them on priority. He said that those staff members whose performance is found good shall be honored.

S. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that about 4000 medical, para medical and other staff have been recruited under the National Health Mission, Punjab during the last two years. Similarly, the work of recruitment of other posts is also being expedited. On the occasion Director National Health Mission, Punjab Dr. Parvinderpal Sidhu, Director Finance Sh. Neeraj Singla and Manager (HR) Mrs. Deep Shikha were also present.
