Jalandhar, April 24, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday slammed a petition filed by the son of former Member Parliament and Union Minister Vijay Sampla, against Lovely Professional University.

A press release issued byu the Univdersity today said, the PIL filed on April 18 was essentially aimed at harming the profile and reputation of LPU which is one of the most reputable university of the country.

The university said it was nothing short of a callous and irresponsible act by a politician. His frustrations and non-friendly relations with LPU can be seen from his various acts over the last two weeks.

The university claimed that through these acts he was also going against Prime Minister’s and Punjab Chief Minister’s efforts of containing this pandemic and instead of helping Govt he was trying to fulfill his ulterior motive and diverting government resources and attention.

“Politicians are expected to work for the upliftment of society and support projects working for the betterment of people. But people like Mr. Sampla, driven by their interests start opposing good work aimed at the higher good for the society,” the university said.

The University also alleged that Sampla has most irresponsibly been at the forefront of not only attacking LPU but also instigating students and polluting young and innocent minds.

“His singling out LPU for the attack is nothing but an act of frustration driven by his interests and self-centred motives,” the university said.
