Haryana Vigilance Bureau nabs Patwari accepting bribe

State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Haryana has caught a Patwari red-handed from Karnal while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 today.

While in another matter, the Government has issued orders to recover lakhs of rupees from contractors and to initiate departmental action against two Executive Engineers, two Municipal Engineers and two Junior Engineers of Municipal Corporation, Panipat on the recommendation of the Vigilance Bureau.

Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that in the first matter, complainant, Irshad, resident of village Naggal Rajput, District Saharanpur made a complaint to the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Karnal that there is a piece of land in his name at Indri and Paramjeet, Patwari is demanding Rs. 5,000 for consolidation of the said land.

Acting promptly on the complaint, the SVB team headed by DSP, Sunil Kumar registered a criminal case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and caught the said Patwari red-handed in the presence of the Duty Magistrate, Rajesh Kumar, BDPO. The accused was interrogated and produced before the court, he added. The case is presently under investigation.

Sharing details of the second case he said that it pertains to the construction of streets or roads by the Municipal Corporation, Panipat. The technical team of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Panchkula carried out special checking of several streets/ roads.

It has been revealed that the contractors used sub-standard material in construction of these streets/ roads and embezzled the public money due to the negligence of concerned officers/officials of the Municipal Corporation, Panipat.

He further added that on the recommendations of State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), the Government has ordered recovery to the tune of Rs 13,37,427 from the concerned contractors and initiation of Departmental action against two Executive Engineers, two Municipal Engineers and two Junior Engineers of Municipal Corporation, Panipat.
