Haryana Vigilance Bureau nabs Chief Sanitary Inspector accepting bribe of Rs.2-lakh

Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught Anil Nain, Chief Sanitary Inspector, Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. two lakh from Mr. Jindal Kumar, sanitary contractor.

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Bureau said that Mr. Jindal Kumar, sanitary contractor, Yamunanagar had made a complaint at the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Headquarters, Panchkula.

He said that in his complaint, Mr. Jindal informed that online tenders had been invited by the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar for the sanitary work of zone 1 and 2, Yamunanagar and he had also applied for the same. Anil Nain, Chief Sanitary Inspector contacted him and demanded illegal gratification of Rs. three lakh. The Sanitary Inspector also threatened him that if he does not fulfill the demand his tender would be canceled. Mr. Jindal had already paid Rs one lakh to Anil Nain but he does not want to pay the balance amount of Rs. two lakh.

The spokesman said that after receiving the information, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered in Police Station, State Vigilance Bureau, Panchkula and a team headed by Mr. Omparkash, DSP, SVB, Headquarter, Panchkula was constituted. Naib Tehsildar, Jagadhari, Mr. Omparkash was appointed as Duty Magistrate.

He said that the team of SVB apprehended the Chief Sanitary Inspector, Anil alongwith one Deepak Kumar from Sasoli road, Yamunanagar, in the presence of Duty Magistrate and shadow witness Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Revenue Accountant.

The accused have been produced before the Court. The investigation of the case is in progress, he added.
