Haryana Vigilance Bureau arrests Head Constable accepting Rs.5-lakh bribe from Call Centre Owner

The State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana has caught Head Constable Amit Kumar of Police Station Khedki Daula, Gurugram red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,00,000 from the owner of a Call Centre Mr. Naveen Bhutani resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi.

Sharing more details a spokesman of the Bureau said that Mr. Naveen Bhutani had made a complaint to State Vigilance Bureau that he was in business collaboration with a party of Karnal and had some financial dispute with them. They called him at Appu Ghar, Gurugram to resolve the matter.

The spokesman said that the complainant had alleged that from there, some policemen took him to the Station House Officer (SHO) Khedki Daula, Mr. Vishal in their vehicle. The SHO had beaten him and checked his laptop.

Knowing his turnover through his laptop, the SHO demanded Rs. 1 Crore from him and threatened him that if he will not fulfill the demand he will be in jail for the rest of his life. Due to the continuous pressure of SHO, he arranged Rs. 57 lakh from his family and relatives through mobile phone, informed the spokesman.

The spokesman said that on that day, they made him stay at a farmhouse at the distance of about 15 Km from there. On the next day, his friend Monu handed over a bag containing Rs 57 lakh to Head Constable Amit and after that they released him at about 6:30 PM.

However, they did not return his laptop and other documents. He used to talk to Head Constable Amit Kumar for the return of his laptop and documents. One day, he told me that SHO Vishal has demanded another 10 lakhs in lieu of his laptop and documents. He recorded the conversation between him and HC Amit Kumar. Now they are demanding Rs. 5 lakh today and 5 lakh after the return of the laptop and documents.

On receiving the information, the State Vigilance Bureau acted promptly and a team headed by Inspector Tribhavan has been constituted. A criminal case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code has been registered at State Vigilance Bureau, Gurugram.

Head Constable Amit Kumar No. 598/GGM has been caught red-handed by the Vigilance Team in the presence of Duty Magistrate Mr. Sushil Kumar, Naib Tehsildar, Gurugram and Shadow Witness Sh. Karambir while accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 5,00,000 from Mr. Naveen Bhutani.

The investigation of the case is in progress.
