Harsimrat Badal directs NHAI and Land Ports Authority officials to complete Kartarpur Sahib Corridor by Oct 31

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal today directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Land Ports Authority officials to ensure the completion of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor project by October 31 by expediting the work on the holy project, saying that she will be visiting the site to review the work progress next week.

In a statement here, the union minister said the entire Guru Nanak Nam Leva Sangat was waiting for the completion of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor project with bated breath as it would be a ‘dream come true moment’ for them cross the border and pay their obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib. “Keeping this in mind no effort should be spared to complete the project in all aspects by the deadline”, she said adding the Kartarpur Corridor would be a befitting tribute to the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Speaking about the Integrated Check Post (ICP) being set up for the pilgrims to cross the border for paying obeisance at Sri Kartarpur Sahib, Mrs. Badal said the Rs.400 crore ICP would reflect the culture and tradition of Punjab. “I am pleased to share that the Passenger Terminal will have the artwork depicting life and teachings of Guru Sahib. Besides, we have decided to place various sculptures within the ICP complex” she added.

Divulging details further, the union minister said the integrated check post would have state-of-the-art facilities for the pilgrims. It has also been decided that the Central government will pay for various facilities like the police station and fire station which were to be set up by the Punjab government, she added.
