Harpal Cheema condemns malicious attempt to harm Verka’s image; Milkfed registers complaint with Cyber Cell

Chandigarh, May 6, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Cooperation Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema, on Friday, informed that since the name of Verka has been maliciously used to harm the brand’s reputation in an old video from Turkey, the Milkfed has registered a complaint with Cyber Cell of Punjab Police under IT Act, 2000 today.

Notably, an old video of 2020 from Turkey is going viral on social media platforms, where a person has been shown taking bath in milk. And, someone has superimposed the name of Verka on this video with the intention to malign the fair name of one of the best cooperative brands.

The Finance & Cooperation Minister S. Cheema said that depiction of the viral video clearly shows that the said action has been taken with malafide intention to defame and harm the growing goodwill of brand Verka. The Minister informed that Government has taken a serious note of this malicious act and necessary criminal action will be taken against the culprits.

S. Cheema categorically said, the video is not related to Verka and deliberately spreading such misinformation can invite legal action, adding that this malicious act will harm the interests of the consumers as well as farmers and will damage our efforts to eradicate the menace of adulteration of milk by unscrupulous elements.

He said that it is matter of record that Verka Milk Plants are fulfilling all statutory requirements laid down by Food Safety Standards Act of India 2006. Verka has been awarded with prestigious quality mark by National Dairy Development Board.

Managing Director, Milkfed, Kamaldeep Singh Sangha,, who today got a complaint registered with Cyber Cell, informed that this video has no relation with Verka and as per media reports this video has been shot in a suburb named Konia of Central Anatolian State of Turkey. The person who has been taking bath, has been reported to be a resident named Emre Sayar of Turkey. The video has reportedly been uploaded by a resident of Turkey named Ugur Turgut and Government of Turkey had taken action against both the offenders.

Mr. Sangha further informed that during the most trying time of COVID Pandemic-19, Verka has handled Milk as per the best quality standards and delivered pure & hygienic milk & milk products to its consumers. For 50 years Milkfed (Verka) has been marketing and selling top quality Milk and Milk products not only in Indian market but also in International markets.

Because of high quality the brand is getting tremendous response from consumers resulting in handsome increase in sales by registering a growth of 10% in Pouch Milk Sales, 38% in Curd, 24% in Lassi & 30% in Kheer over last year. Similarly, there has been a steep growth of 82% in Dairy Whitener, 51% in Ice Cream, 31% in UHT, 14% in Ghee, 39% in Sweetened Flavored Milk & 59% in Lassi.

According to the MD the morphed video clip could be the handiwork of some unscrupulous elements who are rattled by the increasing popularity of Verka as a premier milk cooperative.
