Guru Nanak Dev University recognised as District Green Champion by Govt of India

The Guru Nanak Dev University has been adjudged for ‘District Green Champion Award’ 2021-22 for its exemplary work that has made a difference to the campus and its neighborhood. Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) has released a list of institutions from across India which have actively participated to keep their campuses clean and sanitized.

Guru Nanak Dev University got this ‘District Green Champion’ Award by MGNCRE, Union Ministry of Education, under Swachhta Action Plan 2021-22. Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India congratulated the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu for maintaining campus greenery, cleanliness, maintenance, toilet adequacy, tree planting and community outreach in promoting Swachh Culture in the Guru Nanak Dev University.

The important parameters for this ranking included Water Management, Alternative Energy Sources (Solar Energy), Greenery Management, Waste Management and Land-Use Management including the Green Area inside the campus boundary. The award is a national recognition for the exemplary Swachhta activities in the Institution and its green and clean campus.

Vice Chancellor Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu congratulated the entire University staff and the concerned teams for this important achievement. It is pertinent to say that the Guru Nanak Dev University has received many awards and higher rankings in the field of academics, research, sports & cultural activities and the University has also been awarded with second Cleanest Higher Educational Institution in the country.
