Zee Studios, in association with Shri Narotam Ji Films, today announced their upcoming Punjabi film, Surkhi Bindi, a quirky romance, slated to release on August 30, 2019.
After back-to-back successful films—Qismat and Shadaa—director Jagdeep Sidhu is looking at his possible hattrick of hits with Surkhi Bindi starring Sargun Mehta and Gurnam Bhullar in the lead roles. Surkhi Bindi is a quirky romance that packs in a punch with powerful performances and soulful music.
Speaking on the film, Shariq Patel, CEO, Zee Studios said, “We are ramping up our regional slate of films, especially Punjabi films. After the success of our previous Punjabi hit Kala Shah Kala, we are happy to bring yet another quirky romance, Surkhi Bindi, with great talent on board. Actor Sargun Mehta said, “This film is the story of a girl who has very high aspirations and wants to fulfill her dreams. I could relate to that character a lot. I am very happy that Pollywood is also coming up with such concepts and I am being offered such character. I just hope people will love the concept and shower their blessings. And I am so excited to associate with Zee Studios & the producer-director duo a second time after our previous hit films together.”
Actor Gurnam Bhullar commented, “I am a firm believer of women empowerment and I feel blessed that I got to work on such scripts. And working with Jagdeep Sidhu on your second film is like a dream come true. His vision and knowledge about the craft are commendable. I just hope that like my previous works people will support this also.”
Director Jagdeep Sidhu shared, “We have so many love stories, where boy meets a girl. But this is a love story of wife meeting her husband. Where other love stories end, it begins from there. That’s what got me excited about this story. It’s the first time, I have worked on someone else’s script. This is something new, something fresh for me and the audience too. That’s why I am super excited for this one.”

Surkhi Bindi will release worldwide on August 30, 2019.
