Gurmat Samagam organized at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib on 1st day of New Year Sammat Nanakshahi 553

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised a special Gurmat Samagam (religious programme) at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall last night on the arrival of New Year Sammat Nanakshahi 553.

During the function which continued from 7 pm till late night, head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, granthi Giani Maan Singh, senior-vice president SGPC S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad and general secretary adv Bhagwant Singh Sialka shared gurmat views and groups of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib hazuri raagis Bhai Sandeep Singh, Bhai Maninder Singh, Bhai Gurcharan Singh, Bhai Jaspinder Singh and Bhai Kamaljit Singh sang the Gurbani Kirtan.

Giani Jagtar Singh in his address congratulated the gathering and community across the world on the arrival of new Nanakshahi year and appealed to the sangat to stay connected to the ideology of Gurbani. He encouraged the gathering to live in the light of the traditions of Sikhism and asked them to connect with Bani and Baana (Gurbani and traditional Sikh attire).

On this occasion, senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad said that the pure and unique ideology of Gurmat guides every aspect of human life. Practicing Gurbani is essential to get rid of today’s human problems.

He congratulated the Sikh community on the occasion of Nanakshahi year on behalf of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and urged to take guidance from the life philosophy of Gurus while dedicating to the upcoming 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru.

During the function, the director of Gurmat Sangeet Academy, Sri Anandpur Sahib Prof Kartar Singh’s book ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Sangeet Darpan’ was also released. This book is dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru.

During the function, prominent personalities were honored with Siropao (robe of honour) by the SGPC office bearers. Head preacher Bhai Jagdev Singh and preacher Bhai Tarsem Singh handled the stage during the function.

On this occasion among others Giani Balwinder Singh, Giani Malkit Singh additional head granthi Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Mohan Singh, general secretary adv Bhagwant Singh Sialka, secretary S. Mahinder Singh Ahli, S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Partap Singh, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, assistant secretary Sakatar Singh, S. Harjit Singh Lalughuman, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Gurmeet Singh Butter, S. Nirvail Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Baherwal, manager Baghel Singh, additional manager Nishan Singh were present.
