Govt. should lift passport condition imposed on ‘Sangat’ visiting Kartarpur Sahib: AAP

Chandigarh, November 6, 2019  (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded the immediate lifting of passport condition imposed by the Government of India on the ‘sangat’ visiting Sri Kartarpur Sahib, on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev.

In a statement issued from party headquarters here on Wednesday, Chairman of state Core Committee of the Party, Principal Budh Ram, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Jai Kishan Singh Rodi, Manjit Singh Bilaspur and Kulwant Singh Pandori (All MLAs) said if the Pakistan Government could lift the ‘passport’ condition on those visiting Sri Kartarpur Sahib for ‘darshan’ why this condition was made mandatory by the Indian side.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that the government of India should facilitate ‘Darshan’ of Sri Kartarpur Sahib as simple as possible, for most of the visitors were mostly poor belonging to rural pockets, saying that along with the passports condition, visitors be given other options, like the production of Voter ID card, Aadhar card etc for the purpose of identification.

Principal Buddha Ram has objected to the police inquiry and intelligence reports of the ‘Sangat’ applying for ‘Darshan’ of Sri Kartarpur Sahib. Principal Buddha Ram was joined in by other MLAs of the party saying that there was denying the fact that any person or persons with doubtful identity, must be examined at all levels while making it to the sanctum sanctorum, but not all Nanak Nam Leva Sangat be treated in the similar way.
