Govt must decide on repealing black laws in Jan 4 meeting: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, December 31, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
Reacting to the seventh round of meeting being scheduled between the farmers’ organisations and the central government on January 4, after the government agreed to some issues in the sixth round of meeting on Wednesday; the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded that the centre should come up with a meaningful solution to the main issues.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday, AAP Punjab president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that in the meeting held on Wednesday, there was a possibility of reaching a consensus on some issues between the farmers and the government, but major and serious issues remained unresolved.

He said that the union government should take the issues of the farmers, who were struggling on the Delhi borders in severe cold, seriously, and should resolve their main demand of repealing the anti-farmers black laws in the next meeting.

Mann further said that with the anti-farmers agriculture black laws, the farmers were seeing their future in jeopardy. “What is the need for such laws which would take away the lands of the benefactors of the country,” he added. Regarding MSP, Mann said that it was a basic right of the farmers, which should be met legally.

“When the people of the country had to import food grains from abroad to fill their stomachs; the ‘annadatas’ brought ‘Green Revolution’ by working hard and replenished the stomachs of the people by making the country self-reliant,” said Mann, adding that the government was selling the country’s benefactors to corporate houses for their personal benefits.

He said that if the government would give MSP to the farmers legally on all the crops then India would also become self reliant for imported pulses and oil, and the farmers would cultivate alternative crops.

Lashing out at the centre and state government, Bhagwant Mann said that both the governments were pursuing the same policy of dismantling the government and co-operative system for the benefit of corporate houses. He said that the system built with people’s money was being demolished.

“The Modi-led central government has scrapped institutions like BSNL to make Ambani’s Jio a success in the telecom sector. This is what Captain Amarinder’s government is doing. The government should not sacrifice public institutions for the benefit of corporate houses,” said Mann.

He said that the Captain government should strengthen the public sector and give government jobs to the youth of Punjab as per his election promise of ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ and should not mislead the people by restructuring the departments.
