GoI observes 306th Martyrdom Day of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Red Fort

Ministry of Cultural affairs Government of India today observed 306th martyrdom day of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji at Red Fort Delhi with full religious fervor. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi graced the occasion as representative of Government of India.

Programme was attended by former DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa, National Monument Authority Chief Tarun Vijay, Co-organiser Rajib Babbar, DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka, General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, RP Singh Spokesman BJP, Prem Daneja President Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Sikh community, Ved Makkar General Secretary, SS Pahwa, Bhaskar Verma Member Secretary National Monument Authority, Baba Jatinderpal Singh Sodhi present head of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur seat at Raisi Jammu besides others.

Addressing a massive gathering on the occasion, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi said that contribution of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur for Delhi was immense but history was taught in such a way that only history of Mughals was made relevant in India. He said that now under leadership of PM Narendra Modi efforst are being made to taught our children history of vallian warriors like Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji who mad immense contribution for the country. She said that we have planned to made suitable memorials in name of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji so that our next generation could know about great personality and contribution of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji.

She also quoted Sant Kabir ji and Rabinder Nath Tagore on contribution and character of Sikhs.

Addresing this gathering Tarun Vijay said that till date we bow our head on places of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji, out Bharat Darshan is incomplete. He said that it was most unfortunate that we taught history of Mughals whereas those who gave shed their blood for the country, their name was never mentioned in history. He said that now we are making corrections to ensure that our future generation is taught about Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji and other generals.

On the occasion BJP Sikh leader and former DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that today is a great day when we were observing martyrdom day of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji at Red fort outside which he was martyred. He said that He said nobody could ever match might of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur ji. He said that we are thankful to PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for organizing this event at this historic place and this even will always inspire our youth.

Addressing the gathering, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Harmeet Singh Kalka said that present government has done a lot for Sikh community. He said that long pending demand of 70 years has been fulfilled by starting Kartarpur Sahib corridor. Similarly guilty of 1984 riots are now being punished even after 38 years. He also impressed upon the government to include chapters on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in school and college syllabus.

DSGMC General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon conducted the stage and also disclosed that before organizing of today’s function, Government of India had celebrated 400th Prakash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji at Red Fort recently which was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Baba Jatinder pal Singh Sodhi of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur seat at riasi in Jammu besides others also spoke on the occasion. Programm was also attended by DSGMC Vice President Atma Singh Lubana, Joint Secretary Jasmain Singh Noni besides other officer bearers, members of DSGMC and members of Sikh community.
