GLADA Demolishes Four Unauthorised Colonies in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, August 19, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

On the directions of Minister of Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Mundian and Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards unauthorized and unplanned development, with a special focus on curbing illegal colonies.

Today, GLADA’s Regulatory Wing, supported by the duty magistrate and police force, successfully demolished four unauthorized colonies in the villages of Jandiali, Bholapur, and Sahibana.

The enforcement team dismantled illegal roads, constructions, and structures at these sites, following demolition orders issued by the Additional Chief Administrator-3, GLADA. Despite prior notices, the developers continued illegal construction, prompting this decisive action, which proceeded unopposed.

Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar emphasized that such enforcement drives are part of a broader strategy to curb the proliferation of unauthorized colonies at their inception.

He added that the GLADA has planned additional demolition drives in the coming weeks to ensure compliance with government regulations and to protect the public from fraudulent developers exploiting innocent buyers with promises of affordable plots in unapproved colonies.

The Chief Administrator also urged the public to verify the legitimacy of properties before purchasing, cautioning that unauthorized colonies will not be provided with essential services such as water supply, sewerage, or electricity connections.

A comprehensive list of approved and regularized colonies, along with their sanctioned maps, is available on GLADA’s official website (www.glada.gov.in) for prospective buyers to consult.

In addition to the demolition campaign, GLADA has recommended the filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against developers of unauthorized colonies in Ludhiana district to ensure strict legal action.
