Gangsters rule the roost as Amarinder forgets promises made to people of Punjab: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, Nov 14, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Bharatiya Janata Party has slammed Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government for its failure to honour any of the promises made to pensioners, dalits and youth of the state.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP, today said that gangsters rule the roost in the state while the government claims of normal law and order situation.

He alleged that the majority of the gangs had patronage of the ruling party and the people were left to defend themselves.

Chugh reminded the Chief Minister of the oath he took with a holy ‘Gutka Sahib’ in his hand. “Capt Amarinder had vowed to tackle the menace of drugs within four weeks if he was voted to power, but the state continues to be in the grip of drug lords and peddlers even as 125 weeks have passed,” he said.

Slamming the Chief Minister for his ‘fake promises’, the BJP leader said more than 19 lakh people who qualify for various types of pensions including Old Age Pension and Widow Pension, were left in the lurch due to the indifferent attitude of the government.

“The Congress government has just turned its back towards the vows of the people even as the Chief Minister and the Ministers know that there are poorest of the poor, handicapped and specially privileged people who look up to the government for their rightful benefits,” he said.

Chugh said, to add insult to the injury, the Chief Minister, apprehending a possible rebellion among his ranks of MLAs, inducted six advisors and bestowed them with the ranks of Cabinet Ministers putting a huge burden on the state.

“Hapless people are seeing the public exchequer being plundered to please the ‘rebels’ and keep his Highness’ flock together even as the beneficiaries of social security schemes wait for their dues.

The youth who were promised government jobs in Congress manifesto have neither got jobs nor even one of them had got the unemployment allowance announced with much fanfare before the elections,” the BJP leader said.

Recalling the deceitful promises of the Congress and its Captain, Chugh said the government could not deliver the promise of raising Shagun to Rs.51,000. The Congress was smart enough to promise smart phones to all the youth of Punjab, but is yet to initiate the scheme, he said.

Capt Amarinder was able to hoodwink the people of Punjab by making lofty promises but there is no advisor who would tell him that people of the state were repenting their decision of having fallen in his trap.
