Punjab & Haryana High Court Thursday dismissed a petition filed by gangster Jaipal Bhullar’s father seeking a direction for a second postmortem of the gangster who was shot dead in an alleged encounter at Kolkata.
Commenting after the dismissal of his plea, Jaipal’s father said the family would now approach Supreme Court for justice. The family has decided not to cremate the body till a second post-mortem is completed under the eye of a camera.
The court, while taking up the petition filed by Jaipal’s father Bhupinder Singh Bhullar said that since the encounter took place in Kolkata and even the postmortem was conducted there, it has no jurisdiction in the matter.
Bhupinder Singh had alleged that his son was tortured by the police and he was handed over a packed body urging him not to open since it had been treated with chemicals.
The family of slain gangster, however, opened the packing for bathing the body before cremation. Jaipal’s father alleged that the body had fractured shoulder and arm indicating that he was arrested alive and tortured before he was shot dead.
