Reacting strongly to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s statement in which he had termed the support price of crops as a threat to the economy of the country, PPCC president Sunil Jakhar said today that this had exposed the hidden intention and policy of the Modi government towards the farmers.
He said that Congress party had been warning for a long time that the policies of BJP government were anti-farmer and anti-poor but now a senior minister of BJP government had unfolded the truth from his own mouth.
Pradesh Congress president said that it was very unfortunate that farmers who had been working hard for decades to make the country self-sufficient in foodgrains were being insulted by the Modi government by calling them a burden on the country. “If the farmers
stop producing grains then the government would not be able to produce food from the factories to feed 135 crore people, he warned.
Jakhar dared the NDA ally Akali Dal at the Center to shun greed for a berth in the union cabinet and stand up for the farmers in whose name the leaders of this party had been doing politics for decades together.
He said that by amending the laws relating to marketing, the Union government had already made its negative intentions clear and now Gadkari’s statement had shattered the false claims of BJP-led Union government.
He reiterated that Congress party will not allow BJP govt’s anti-farmer policies to succeed.
