Former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti passes away

Former Akal Takht Jathedar and a learned Sikh Scholar Singh Sahib Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti passed away on Saturday.

He had a heart stroke Saturday evening which provide fatal.

During his tenure as Jathedar of Akal Takht he implemented ‘Mool Nanankshahi Calendar’ in the year 2003.

He remained Jathedar of Akal Takht from the year 2000 to 2008.

Known to be an outspoken spiritual leader, he had later himself made it public that he was ousted forcibly by asking him to resign in 2008 when he had inadvertently praised the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
