First Spl Train with 1200 passengers to move from Jalandhar Railway Station Tuesday evening

In a major reprieve for the migrant labourers desirous of moving to their native state, the first train ‘Shramik Express’ carrying the passengers from Jalandhar to Daltonganj in Jharkhand would move on Tuesday evening.

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today reviewed the arrangements for moving of this train from the city Railway station. Both the officers said that the train, having a capacity of 1200 passengers would move from the city station. They said that only those passengers who have enrolled themselves on the portal of the state government and who would get sms on their mobiles today late night or Tuesday morning would be entitled to move in the train.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that any unauthorized person trying to come to city Railway station would be dealt with sternly as per the curfew law. They said that after getting the sms 600 probable passengers would gather at Balle Balle farms on Pathankot chowk, 300 at Khalsa School Nakodar road and 300 Guru Nanak Dev University College Nehru Garden road. Both the officers said that all the passengers would be screened by the Health teams and if found fit they could travel in the train.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the passengers would have to carry their food and water along with them. They said that Punjab Police along with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) would be deployed at the city station to check the entry of only authorized persons in the station.

Both the officers said that due to concerted efforts of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh more such trains would be moving for Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Sultanpur, Katni (Madhya Pradesh), Jharkhand and others.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Additonal Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Babita Kler, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh and Mr. Balkar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi and Mr. PS Bhandal, Superintendent of Police Mr. RPS Sandhu, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Rahul Sindhu and Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Secretary RTA Mr. Barjinder Singh and others were also present.
