Farmers movement being deliberately defamed: SGPC Chief Jagir Kaur on Singhu incident

Amritsar, October 16, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur termed yesterday’s incident at Singhu border as tragic and said that such unfortunate incidents would not have taken place if the government was serious about resolving the issue of farmers.

She said that some people were deliberately trying to tarnish the image of the farmers’ movement and as a result such incidents were taking place.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the government was not resolving the issues of farmers sitting on protest at Delhi borders for more than 10 months and on the other hand, conspiracies to discredit the farmer’s struggle are worrisome.

Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident at Singhu border and said that the truth should come out and it should also be clear which powers were deliberately trying to defame the Sikhs.

SGPC President also strongly condemned the manhandling with Avtar Singh Hit, President of the management committee at Takht Sri Harmandar Ji Patna Sahib, during a function. She said that such manhandling at shrines could not be tolerated and strict action should be taken against the culprits.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that disrespecting the responsible personalities of the Sikh community is an act of defamation of the community.

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur also strongly condemned the forcible entry of Afghan militants into the Gurdwara Karta-E-Parwan in Kabul. She said that Sikhs living in Afghanistan are being harassed continuously. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that due to this environment of fear in Afghanistan Sikhs are not able to do their business properly. She appealed to the Government of India to ensure the safety of Sikhs living in Afghanistan.
