ED action in Punjab: Raids at 13 places in Ropar on illegal mining sites

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Wednesday raided 13 places in Ropar district of Punjab in connection with illegal mining.

According to ED officials privy to the development, teams from the Jalandhar office of the ED were raiding the sites. The operation is still on, they said.

According to officials, illegal mining activities were taking place on the land already seized by the ED in connection with the infamous Bhola drug case. It is worth mentioning that this case, related to money laundering, is currently at an important stage of hearing before the PMLA court.

Several individuals and entities involved in illegal mining operations have been identified during the investigation. Among them are Nasibchand, a prominent name associated with illegal mining, and Sri Ram Stone Crusher. Officials said that so far ED has recovered a total of Rs 3 crore during the search.
