The Election Commission of India has ordered Re-Poll at one Polling booth of the Parliament Constituency Amritsar. Re-poll would be held on May 22 due to negligence in polling process.
Disclosing this here today Dr. S. Karuna Raju said that as per ECI order one polling station in Amritsar Parliamentary constituency “Polling Booth No. 123” of Rajasansi Assembly Constituency would undergo re-poll.
Dr. S. Karuna Raju, Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab said that the concerned Returning Officer and Observer have been instructed to act accordingly. The political parties and the contesting candidates have also been intimated about the re-poll as per the directions of Election Commission of India.
Dr. Raju said that the Polling day has been fixed on May 22, 2019 and the polling hours would be from 7.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
Dr. Raju also said that necessary arrangements have been made and election material, EVMs, Security and poll staff in adequate numbers have also been deputed for this task.
Meanwhile, the ECI has ordered paid leave to all the voters of Booth No. 123 where the re-poll is announced on May 22 to facilitate the voters to exercise their franchise, said Dr. Raju.
