Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) delegation led by its General Secretary Mr. Jagdip Singh Kahlon held a meeting with both Deputy Chief Ministers of Meghalaya and other officials at Government Secretariat on the issue of displacement of 500 Sikh families in Shillong. Deputy CMs Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar were present along with other officials whereas DSGMC was represented by Jagdip Kahlon, DSGMC Executive Member Gurdeep Singh Bhatia and local committee member Gurjit Singh Shillong.
After the meeting, Mr. Kahlon said that we have already filed a petition in Meghalaya High Court on which court has given stay in our favour. He said that besides this case we are regularly negating with the Meghalaya Government also to sort out the issue of displacement of 500 Sikh families. He said that we have put forth out point of view before the government and told them that this is fourth generation of these families that are residing in the downtown area since last more than one and a half century.
He said that we are trying to sort out the issue through negotiations are very hopeful that we will be able to resolve the issue. He said that if we will not be able to resolve it through negotiations then we will move court. He further disclosed that meeting with the government was held in very cordial atmosphere.
He said that DSGMC is standing like rocks with the families and we will ensure that these Sikh families get justice at every cost.
