DSGMC to preserve Sword, Stamp & Artifacts associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur ji in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj

Holy well situated in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib complex which is associated with ninth guru of Sikhism Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib will be revived and rejuvenated by building recharge structures and will be developed it as another Sikh pilgrimage attraction in National Capital Delhi .

The sacred water of this holy well was used for undertaking yogurt bath for dismembered body of of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji before his creamation in November 1675 at Raisina hill Village where magnificent Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib was constructed in the year 1783 at a cost of 25 lakh rupees in 12 years time period.

The kar sewa(volunterr work) for rejuvenating and revival of sacred well has been assigned to Baba Bachan Singh ji Kar Sewa Bale who has started work on the site said Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today .

The rejuvenation and revival of the holy well will be undertaken through leveraging technology and eco-friendly methodologies which is likely to be completed by next three months .He said that round shape well will be excavated around 80 feet deep with active assistance of geohydrologist experts on natural water resource management to ensure fresh water from the well from all sides round the year .

Around 1000 years old water well which has been lying idle and dry from last 100 years will be revived by next three months and the magical water drawn from the well having healing properties will be distributed to visiting devotees as JAL PRASAD through Chhabil constructed near entry gate of Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib said Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.

The Sword associated with Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and other articles of artifacts like Stamp belonging to Guru Sahib which are kept in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib will be highlighted in proper perspective to teach and educate younger generation about glorious history of Sikh Religion.

He said that services of renowned archaeologists will be hired for conservation of this extremely rare sword who was used by Sikh Guru in the battle of Kartarpur in the year 1635.

He said that DSGMC has decided to highlight heritage structure and places associated with ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji to throw light on supreme sacrifices made by Sikh Guru for protecting the rights of Hindu Kashmiri Pandits by giving up his life for freedom of religion, reminding Sikhs and non-Muslims in India to follow and practice their beliefs without fear of persecution and forced conversions by Muslims.

He said that it has been decided that new building structures will be constructed at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to develop modern amenities and latest facilities to the visiting devotees under which around 2.5 crore rupees will be spent to construct 5000 square feet new eco friendly double storey building having Air Conditioner facilities like ,, Resting Rooms , Devottees Slip , Sale of Prasad and Flowers , Joda Ghar (Shoe Racks) ,Lockers ,Benches , Chairs etc will be made available under single roof for visiting devotees and added that present old structure which hinders clear view of Holy Well will be dismantled to provide clear view/darshan of holy well to the visiting devotees and also construct other infrastructure like benches etc so as devotees can take rest at this place.

A new Chhabil has been constructed this year in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib Complex for providing clean water to visiting devotees under which water tanks having 5000 litres storage capacity with RO facilities have been set up to meet drinking water needs of the gurdwara devotees and added that besides visiting devotees the clean drinking water is also provided to bus passengers / security personals deployed in the area and other needy persons like daily wage construction workers who approach authorities for clean drinking water for its staff / duty personal etc.

He said that an average 1500 persons are provided neat clean drinking water from this Chhabil Daily and main rush is experienced during summer season when people experiencing scorching summer heat needs to quench their thirst immediately to save themselves from ill effects of soaring temperature and save themselves from Sun Stroke etc .

The present management has added many new facilities for visiting pilgrims to facilitate their visit and enhance their stay at the holy shrine .

The shrine has emerged as favourite tourist attraction in recent years where around 6 lakh foreign tourist visited holy shrine last year and this year around 10 lakh foreign tourist are likely to visit holy shrine .

He said that round the clock langar service has been in operation to provide hot tasty food to the needy ,poor and visiting devottees keeping the best traditions of the sikh religion intact .He said that thousands people are fed through Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib Langar daily and besides it visiting devotees also undertake Tea/Snacks / Fruit / Sweets langar in gurdwara complex from time to time to wipe out hunger from the society.
