DSGMC to hold year-long celebrations for 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will hold mega celebrations beginning from April 2020 to commemorate 400 th Prakash Purb ( birth anniversary) of ‘Hind di chadar’ ninth Sikh guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji in a grand and befitting manner Said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President DSGMC here today.

DSGMC will organise grand event on the Guru’s 399th Prakash Purb(birth anniversary) at the historic gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib where Guru ji attained martyrdom on November 11, 1675 years which is remembered every year as Shaheedi Divas while the concluding function on his 400th birth anniversary will be organised at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj at New Delhi on 2021, where his mortal remains were consigned to flames in accordance with Sikh Traditions.

He said that an executive committee consisting eminent sikh historians , sikh celebrities and academicians will be constituted to finalise the broad contours for momentous occasion and chalk out several programmes including seminars, symposiums and lectures to be organised at all 10 historic Gurdwaras in National Capital throughout the year to throw light on various facets of life and philosophy of Guru Ji amongst people, especially the youngsters.

An International seminar on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib ji will be organised in New Delhi during the year long celebrations in a fitting tribute to one of the greatest spiritual leaders who ever walked this earth.

Special events like planting of plant saplings, rendition of Kirtan/Ardas based on ‘Gurbani’, blood donation and medical camps, demonstrations of Sikh Marshall Arts and translations of Guru’s teachings in many International languages for wider dissemination and outreach will be organised at all historic Gurdwaras and education institutions run by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee said Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa here today.

He said that all places visited by Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib ji in Delhi/NCR will be meticulously authenticated from the historians’ committee and developed as new Sikh religious attraction places for devotees and visiting tourists in commemoration of 400 th Prakash Purb(birth anniversary) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji .

He said that DSGMC has decided to provide modern facilities for visiting devottees at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib with estimated cost of around 2.5 crore in commemoration of 400 th birth anniversary of ninth Sikh guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji and the Kar Sewa( construction work) at site has been started by Baba Bachan Singh ji Kar Sewa.

He said that new eco friendly double storey 5000 square feet fully air conditioner new building structure will be constructed under which all pilgrims facilities like like Resting Rooms , Devottees Slip , Sale of Prasad and Flowers , Joda Ghar (Shoe Racks) ,Lockers ,Benches , Chairs etc will be made available under single roof for visiting devotees.

He said that construction work on new facilities will be completed this year and facilities will be dedicated to visiting devottees as tribute to Ninth sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji.
He said that sikh relics associated with Ninth Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji like Sword , Purse at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj will be preserved scientifically.

Holy well situated in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib complex which is associated with ninth guru of Sikhism Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib will be revived and rejuvenated by building recharge structures and will be developed it as another Sikh pilgrimage attraction in commemoration of 400th birth anniversary of ninth Sikh guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji .

Around 1000 years old water well which has been lying idle and dry from last 100 years will be revived by next three months and the magical water drawn from the well having healing properties will be distributed to visiting devotees through Chhabil constructed near entry gate of Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib said Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.

The kar sewa(construction work) for rejuvenating and revival of sacred well has been started by Baba Bachan Singh ji Kar Sewa Bale on the site. The rejuvenation and revival of the holy well will be undertaken through leveraging technology and eco-friendly methodologies which is likely to be completed by next three months.

The round shape well will be excavated around 80 feet deep with active assistance of geohydrologist experts on natural water resource management to ensure fresh water from the well round the year said Sh Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.

The other relics like heritage Sword associated with Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and other articles of artefacts like Stamp belonging to Guru Sahib which are kept in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib will be highlighted in proper perspective to teach and educate younger generation about glorious history of Sikh Religion.

He said that services of renowned archaeologists will be hired for conservation of this extremely rare sword which is kept at gurdwara complex.

He said that DSGMC has decided to highlight heritage structure and places associated with ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji to throw light on supreme sacrifices made by Sikh Guru for protecting the rights of Hindu Kashmiri Pandits by giving up his life for freedom of religion, reminding Sikhs and non-Muslims in India to follow and practice their beliefs without fear of persecution and forced conversions by Muslims.

A new Chhabil has been constructed this year in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib Complex for providing clean water to visiting devotees under which water tanks having 5000 litres storage capacity with RO facilities have been set up to meet drinking water needs of the gurdwara devotees and added that besides visiting devotees the clean drinking water is also provided to bus passengers / security personals deployed in the area and other needy persons like daily wage construction workers who approach authorities for clean drinking water for its staff / duty personal etc.

He said that an average 1500 persons are provided neat clean drinking water from this Chhabil Daily and main rush is experienced during summer season when people experiencing scorching summer heat needs to quench their thirst immediately to save themselves from ill effects of soaring temperature and save themselves from Sun Stroke etc said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Manangement Committee here today.
