The present tenure of DSGMC house is 4 years

Mr Inder Mohan Singh, President of Dashmesh Sewa Society (Regd) and former member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) demands to increase the tenue of elections of DSGMC from existing 4 years to 5 years. Giving information on this issue, he said that at the time of formation of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1971, the tenue of 4 years for DSGMC elections was fixed on the pattern of the then Metropolitan Council in existence whose term was also 4 years.
Whereas the said Metropolitan Council was dissolved many years ago and replaced by Delhi Vidhan Sabha whose term is 5 years. Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that accordingly the term of the DSGMC constituted under an Act of Parliament should also be 5 years. Mr Singh while giving more information said that the term of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Sri Amritsar apart from Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other organization is also 5 years.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that likewise the term of the Executive Board of DSGMC should also be increased from the existing 2 years to 5 years so that the DSGMC management is not put under pressure to adopt violation of rules tactics to please its members to get their votes in their favour after every 2 years. He said that immediate necessary amendments in Section 5 and 16 are required in order to ensure the fair and transparent functioning of the DSGMC.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that his Dashmesh Sewa Society through its letter has asked the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi’s Lt. Governor Vinay Kumar Saxsena, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Gurdwara Director Manvinder Singh to take immediate action in this regard so that the term of DSGMC should be kept in par with the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee and other such institutions.
